Celebrating our Palliative Care Nurses: Mr Himanshu Patel

Mr Himanshu Patel is a Staff Nurse at the Department of Palliative Medicine in Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute, Ahmedabad.

Mr Patel works with sincerity and consistency towards the development of specialized palliative care within the Department.

He is very skillful in advanced nursing care and is able to provide services in any domain of his patient’s treatment, right from explaining the medication, to dressing wounds, to catheterization, and to also being able to perform small interventions for his patients’.

Mr Patel also actively participates in home visits in which he educates and empowers family members to provide quality palliative care for patients, while also providing psycho-social support to his patients and their loved ones. His support has helped several patients and their families to easily combat the trauma they are enduring.

He also extends support to patients’ and their families’ to access drugs by connecting them with various NGOs for receiving financial support.

The team at GCRI appreciates and applauds his contribution during the COVID pandemic, when he worked alongside the doctors as a frontline worker, without any fear.
